Kwetu Kuwait ("Kwetu", "we", "us") is a community housing listings board for the African diaspora in Kuwait. Kwetu is currently operated by an individual, Kelvin Ndegwa Wairimu, pending formal incorporation of Flowtwchnologies Limited in Kenya. This policy will be updated to reflect the incorporated entity once that's complete.
Kwetu is built to collect as little as possible. We do not use accounts, passwords, or logins. When you use Kwetu, we may collect:
We do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information. Kwetu never processes payments — all arrangements happen directly between users over WhatsApp, outside our platform.
We only use the data above to:
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers who host the site (Netlify, Supabase).
Listings automatically stop being publicly visible 30 days after posting, and are permanently deleted from our database 7 days after that. We don't run indefinite archives of expired listings.
Before publishing or saving a listing, you're asked to explicitly confirm you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service via a checkbox on the review step. Nothing is written to our database until you do — this is what "consent" means in practice on a platform with no accounts and no sign-up flow to bundle it into.
Under Kuwait's Electronic Transactions Law, and as a matter of how we've built Kwetu regardless, you have the right to:
Because Kwetu has no accounts, "your data" is tied to the device and browser you posted from, via a private token stored only in your browser. If you clear your browser storage or switch devices, we have no way to identify which listings were yours, and cannot process a deletion request without independent proof of ownership (for example, matching contact details).
Kwetu is hosted using Netlify (frontend) and Supabase (database), both of which may process data outside Kuwait. By using Kwetu, you understand your listing data may be processed on servers outside Kuwait as a normal part of how these hosting services work.
We use industry-standard practices including database-level access controls (Row Level Security) so that write access to listings only happens through controlled, validated pathways — not open database access. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to Kwetu.
Kwetu is not directed at, and should not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
We'll update the "last updated" date above when this policy changes, and will note material changes prominently on the site.
